Tropical Diseases Research Centre (TDRC) successfully retained its accreditation from the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services (SADCAS) for compliance with ISO 15189 standards for medical laboratories. This follows a five-year accreditation cycle initiated in 2019, during which TDRC consistently passed annual surveillance assessments.
In the recent re-assessment, seven laboratories underwent rigorous testing, addressing identified gaps to secure re-accreditation. Assessors praised the Centre’s high-quality documentation, including clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), equipment traceability, staff competence records, and cooperative engagement throughout the process.
TDRC acknowledges the Ministry of Health, the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), and the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) for their financial, material, and technical support. The Centre reaffirms its commitment to advancing quality healthcare services for the benefit of the general public.
