{"id":5020,"date":"2022-09-13T13:40:37","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T13:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tdrc.org.zm\/?page_id=5020"},"modified":"2022-09-13T13:40:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T13:40:40","slug":"who-we-are","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tdrc.org.zm\/?page_id=5020","title":{"rendered":"Who we Are"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&#8220;The Research Ethics Committee at the Tropical Diseases Research Centre [TDRC REC] is&nbsp; one of the Committees of the TDRC Board which operates independently from TDRC as a&nbsp; research institution.&nbsp; The Committee reviews research work involving human subjects to&nbsp; ensure it is conducted under strict compliance with international guidelines such as&nbsp; the International Conference on Harmonisation, Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), the&nbsp; Declaration of Helsinki, Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences&nbsp; (CIOMS) and the International Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee is guided by Standard Operation Procedures which ensures that research&nbsp; promotes and respects the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of research subjects&nbsp; and that results generated by Investigators are credible and internationally&nbsp; acceptable. The Ethics Review Committee (REC) is an advocate of the research&nbsp; participant and is responsible for ensuring compliance to these standards, taking into&nbsp; account the interests and needs of the researchers and having due regard for the&nbsp; requirements of and needs of relevant regulatory agencies and applicable laws.
