TDRC was designated as the testing centre for COVID 19 for four provinces namely Copperbelt, North-Western, Luapula and Northern Provinces in April 2020. Since then, the Centre has been conducting COVID 19 tests including certification for travellers.
The TDRC COVID – 19 Testing Centre has now been upgraded to a 5 star, African CDC/ASLM certified facility which is on the African Union Travel platform.
The Trusted Travel Portal, is powered by Africa CDC’s strategic partners, PanaBIOS and Econet, which provides you with instant access to information on entry and exit requirements, laboratory information, Yellow Fever, including other types of useful recommended vaccinations. COVID-19 Test results can also be validated online ahead of travel.
If you are travelling outside Zambia, you must take a COVID‑19 PCR test before departure as you may be required to present a negative COVID‑19 PCR test result by your airline and or your country of destination.

- Where exactly can I go for my COVID-19 PCR test?
The test is done at our facility located next to our TB laboratory at the Ndola Teaching Hospital next to the Psychiatry Ward.
- How much does it cost?
TDRC charges K850.00 to conduct the test and this is inclusive of a Traveller’s Certificate
- How long does it take for the results to be ready?
The results take a maximum of 24 hours.
- Do you have an express service?
Yes, we do, at a cost of K2000.00 and the results can be obtained within 3 hours
- What is the validity of the test result?
The validity of the negative result varies depending on the destination. Check with your airline or the embassy of you of destination for more details.
- What are the working hours for the COVID 19 tests?
